Individual Taxpayers Claiming Homebuyer Credit
The Worker, Homeownership, and Business Assistance Act of 2009 extended the homebuyer credit to a broader range of home purchasers and added new requirements for documentation that taxpayers must submit. Taxpayers who purchased a home during 2009 can still e-file their 2009 tax return if they amend their 2008 tax return to claim the homebuyer credit (instead of claiming it on their 2009 return).
